Website for B&Bs and holiday rentals

A B&B website should let a guest see the rooms, check the dates and book directly with you, so you rely less on platforms that take a commission on every stay. Atelier Web has built sites for three holiday accommodations in Belgium, including one with its own booking engine synced with Booking.com, and writes them in English, Dutch and French.

What we hear

  • Most bookings arrive through platforms, and the commission eats into every night you rent out.
  • Guests from abroad find your listing on a platform but cannot find your own site to book direct.
  • Questions about parking, breakfast, pets and check-in times keep arriving by email and phone.
  • Your calendar lives in three places and a double booking is always one mistake away.
  • Platform photos and descriptions all look alike, so your house does not stand out.

What should a B&B website contain?

Start with the rooms. One page per room or house, with good photos, the number of beds, the bathroom, the view and what is included. Guests compare carefully before they book, and every unanswered question sends them back to a platform.

Then availability. A calendar or a booking engine on every room page, with a clear button to book or ask for dates. Add a page on breakfast, if you serve it, and one on the house itself: its history, the garden, the quiet.

A page about the surroundings does double duty. It helps guests plan, and it matches what they search for: walks in the area, cycling routes, restaurants nearby. Ô Mont des R’nauds in Bertrix, with three holiday homes and a hall, sits in a landscape that sells the stay on its own.

Finish with practical information: arrival and departure times, parking, pets, the tourist tax, and how to reach you. Put all of it in English as well as Dutch and French.

How do customers find a B&B online?

Guests search by place first and by property second. They type “B&B near Ypres” or “gîte Ardennes with sauna”, compare the map, and open a few listings on platforms. The ones that look right are then searched by name, and that is where your own site must appear, ideally above the platform listing.

To get there, your Google Business Profile needs the same name, address and photos as your site, and reviews that you answer. Your site needs pages that name the area, the nearby towns and the things people come for.

AI assistants increasingly answer questions such as “quiet holiday home for six near Poperinge with a garden”. They draw on pages that state those facts in plain text. A site that lists capacity, garden, distance to town and booking terms in each language is much easier for them to recommend.

How does Atelier Web build a B&B website?

You describe your rooms, your guests and how bookings arrive today in a short request or a phone call. Then a quote: which pages, which languages, and whether a booking form is enough or you need a booking engine with platform sync. Once that is agreed, Louis comes to the house to walk through the rooms and note what guests notice first.

Huyze Basco in Reningelst shows the full version. Four holiday homes in a converted village café, Arthur, Lucie, Florent and Albertine, each with its own page, and an own booking engine synced with Booking.com. Owners Vanessa and Sam now take direct bookings without the high commissions.

Louis writes the copy in Dutch, French and English after talking with you, and you check it. After launch he helps with your Google Business Profile. The yearly maintenance package covers WordPress updates, backups and your Google Business Profile.

What does a B&B website cost?

The quote follows your request and a short exchange by email or phone, because the work varies a lot. The main factors are the number of rooms or houses, whether you need a booking engine with payment and platform sync or a simple request form, the number of languages, and whether new photos are needed.

The quote always includes design, copy in the agreed languages, the build, the link with Google and an explanation so you can update prices, photos and texts yourself.

Is a booking engine worth it for a small B&B?

For two rooms with mostly regular guests, a booking request form is often enough: the guest picks dates, you confirm by email. Once platforms bring in most of your stays and you spend evenings managing calendars, a booking engine starts to make sense. It shows live availability, takes a deposit and syncs with the platforms so double bookings stop.

Do not leave the platforms altogether. They bring guests who would never have found you. The goal is that a guest who already knows your name books on your own site. Tell Louis how your bookings come in today, and the quote will reflect the right choice.

03Frequently asked questions

Questions B&Bs and holiday rentals ask about their website

Can guests book directly on my B&B website?

Yes. Depending on your size, that is a booking request form or a real booking engine with availability and payment. Huyze Basco in Reningelst has its own booking engine synced with Booking.com, so the owners no longer pay high commissions on every direct booking.

Will my website calendar sync with Booking.com and Airbnb?

In most cases, yes, through calendar sync or a channel manager. The aim is that a booking on one channel blocks the dates on the others. Which option fits depends on how many rooms or houses you rent out.

Do I need my B&B website in English?

Almost certainly, if you welcome foreign guests or are near a tourist area. Atelier Web works in English, Dutch and French and writes each version separately, so a Dutch couple and a British family both read a page that sounds natural.

Should I mention the tourist tax on my website?

Yes, say whether it is included or charged on arrival. Many municipalities levy a tourist tax, each with its own way of calculating it, and guests dislike surprises at check-out. Check the exact rule with your municipality.

Who takes care of hosting and the domain name?

Atelier Web. Hosting and the domain name are part of the yearly maintenance package, along with updates, backups and security. You have one contact and nothing technical to follow up.
